Can the dead really watch over their loved ones? Can they haunt houses?

(All texts in the King James Version)

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: – Genesis 3:4 KJV

What happens after you die? Where do you go? Can you visit your loved ones? Well, read below, then you tell me. What does God tell us about ppl who who mess around trying to call up the dead?

Deuteronomy 18:9-13
When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

What happens at death then? What do we do? etc

Job 7:9-10
As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up nomore.  He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

So can a dead haunt a house? No. Lets see what else happens at death.

Psalm 146:4

His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

Psalm 6:5
For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

Psalm 115:17
The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

Ecclesiastes 9:4,5,6,10
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Isaiah 38:18-19
For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

Psalm 30:9
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

Psalm 78:39
For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

Psalm 88:5,10-13
Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand. Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah. Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?  Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.

2 Samuel 12:23
But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

I am convinced that death means, death.  But there is one, who is immortal.  He is not a man.

1 Timothy 6:16
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

When you read the context, you see this is talking about the King of kings, and Lord of lords.  Only God has immortality. Man, does not.

So, lets answer a few questions based off what we’ve read.  We know that our thoughts cease, we have no awareness of anything.  We also know that we do not go anywhere, or can’t even praise God anymore once dead.  So, that leaves another Q out there.  Why do ppl say our loved ones are watching over us?  If we really do go to heaven when we die, then it would contradict these following verses.  But, the Bible never contradicts, so that must mean this is a man made tradition to believe we go to heaven immediately at death, and not a teaching of God.  Here are the verses.

John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in meIn my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where am, there ye may be also.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not preventd them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:52-55
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Jesus is coming again, and the dead in Christ will be ressurected.  If we already go to heaven, who is Jesus going to ressurect?  If Jesus says He’ll be back for us, why then would He come back if we are already there?  At death, we do not go anywhere.  If there is any confusion read the texts carefully again.  There are many more btw, and all agreeing with these, not contradicting.

So, one more question, that I will get back to.  Ppl see ghosts, people do see something “resembling” their loved ones at times.  People apparently “contact” the dead.  But, since now we know they are not talking with their loved ones, who are they talking to??

Matthew 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Revelation 16:14
For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Not something I would choose to associate myself with. You????

The Bible Says

After death a person: returns to dust (Psalms 104:29), knows nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5), possesses no mental powers (Psalms 146:4), has nothing to do with anything on earth (Ecclesiastes 9:6), does not live (2 Kings 20:1), waits in the grave (Job 17:13), and continues not (Job 14:1, 2).
